Skyhawk Football | Carmen Felus - Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach

Carmen Felus

Carmen Felus is in his third season as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.

In 2012, Felus helped oversee an explosive Skyhawk offense that ranked in the top-25 nationally in passing offense (299.55 yards per game, 10th), passing efficiency (150.26, 12th), least sacks allowed (1.09 per game, 15th), scoring offense (33.55 points per game, 19th) and total offense (427.45 yards per game, 24th).

Felus also mentored All-Ohio Valley Conference performers Quentin Sims and Derek Carr. Sims parlayed an All-American season where he set the single-season OVC record with 16 touchdowns into a contract with the NFL's New England Patriots while Carr wrapped up his spectacular career by shattering eight school records in 2012, becoming the program's all-time leader in passing yards (8,428) and touchdown passes (69).

In Felus' debut season as UT Martin offensive coordinator, the Skyhawks led the country in least sacks allowed (0.45 per game) and also ranked in the top-25 nationally in scoring offense (34.64 points per game, 13th), total offense (427.18 yards per game, 19th) and rushing offense (191.64 yards per game, 25th).

Felus came to UT Martin with 16 years of coaching experience, including his most recent stint with Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. where he served as head coach from 2009-10.

Before Juniata, Felus came from Chattanooga, where he was the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterbacks coach from 2006-08.

Previously, Felus was offensive coordinator at Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2000 to 2005, where he helped lead the Crimson Hawks to a share of five PSAC West championships and three trips to the NCAA Division II playoffs. The Crimson Hawks posted a combined mark of 49-16 during Felus' six years on staff at IUP and were ranked among the AFCA Division II top 20 for 52 consecutive weeks.

Some of the prominent players Felus coached include Eldra Buckley (Chattanooga), a running back with Philadelphia Eagles; Jason Capizzi (IUP), an offensive lineman for the Steelers and Rams; LeRon McCoy (IUP), a wide receiver for 49ers and Texans; Mike Jemison (IUP), a running back for the Giants and Steelers; Chris Morgan (IUP), a running back for the Indianapolis Colts.

A native of Lilly, Pa., Felus graduated from Penn Cambrian High School and was a two-year letterwinner as a quarterback and wide receiver at Lock Haven University between 1990-92. He transferred to Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), where he completed his eligibility in 1994 as the Green Terror's sixth leading receiver in school history with 89 receptions for 755 yards. He graduated from Western Maryland in 1995 with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature.

Felus and his wife Jennifer (Podlucky) have one daughter, Marissa Carmella and one son, Caden Nicholas.
