Skyhawk Football | Mac Bryan - Co-Offensive Coordinator, Offensive Line Coach
Mac Bryan begins his third season as the offensive line coach and his second season as the Skyhawks co-offensive coordinator. He comes to UT Martin from Enka High School in North Carolina where he served as head coach for the past season. He led the Jets to their best season since 2002.
Bryan brings 19 years of collegiate coaching experience to UT Martin with him. His last college coaching job was as the head football coach at Pikeville (Kentucky) College. He spent three seasons as the head coach. He spent one year as assistant head coach and offensive line coach at Newberry College.
Before that, Bryan was at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 2001-2003 where he first served as the offensive line coach and then as the defensive line coach. Among his players at Chattanooga was former UT Martin offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Geep Wade.
Bryan also spent three seasons as the offensive line coach at Southern Miss and seven years at Lees McRae College. UT Martin head coach Jason Simpson was a player at Southern Miss while Bryan was the offensive line coach. While at Lees McRae as the head coach, Bryan guided the team to the four East Bowls and the Mid American Bowl. He was named the NJCAA Region 10 Coach of the Year three times and the Coastal Conference Coach of the Year twice. His team won Coastal Conference titles in 1986, 1987 and 1988. Lees McRae was ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA final regular season poll in 1987.
Bryan worked as a graduate assistant coach at Appalachian State from 1981-83 while working on his graduate degree. He earned his master's in Physical Education in 1983 and his bachelor's degree in PE in 1982 from ASU. He was a member of the Mountaineers' football team from 1978-80, playing offensive tackle for head coaches Jim Brakefield and Mike Working.
Bryan is married to the former Vickie Smith. The couple has two daughters, Victoria and Carolyn.
