BEFORE UTM: Transfers to the Skyhawks out of nearby Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where he played one season for head coach Brent Fronabarger…Evolved into a weekend starting pitcher for the Bulldogs, going 3-1 in 14 appearances (nine starts)…Posted a 5.05 ERA in 57 innings while also playing in 35 games (19 starts) in the infield…He tossed eight quality innings in a win over NAIA powerhouse Cumberland University and also pitched five effective innings against UT Martin on Feb. 22…Prepped at North Side High School under head coaches Chris Clark and Jason McCauley…Tallied a .451 batting average, 12 home runs, 110 RBI’s, 49 doubles, 183 hits and 156 runs scored during his prep career…Posted a 2.52 ERA with 90 strikeouts in 63 innings as a senior, helping NSHS to its second consecutive district title…Was named a first team Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee selection, the Most Outstanding Defensive Player in the West Tennessee High School All-Star Classic and all-district as a senior in 2011…Led the Indians to their first district championship in several years after earning all-region and all-district accolades…Was the winning pitcher in the 2010 District 13AAA semifinal and championship contests…Hit . 491 with 17 doubles and 28 RBI’s in 2009, earning TBCA Super Sophomore accolades and Tennessee Sports Writers Association all-state honors…Hit .390 as a freshman at NSHS.
