Skyhawk Golf | Austin Swafford

HometownLebanon, Tenn.

COACH CARPENTER ON SWAFFORD: "Austin grew up on the golf course where he was taught by his father Larry who was a long-time teaching professional in the middle Tennessee area. Larry taught Austin the basic skills of golf and has made him one of the top players in Tennessee. UT Martin was extremely lucky to secure his services for collegiate golf and he was recruited by several schools in Tennessee. Austin is an outstanding golfer, a top student and better person. He has an excellent golf course demeanor and just a great golf course sense of how to play the game, plus he knows how to compete on every shot. He has good length off the tee, a very good short game, a great work ethic and a very good putter. His junior golf career helped make him a very good college player. Last year he exceeded all expectations and ended the season as the OVC Freshman of the Year. He is a perfect fit for our program and the UT Martin community."

2013-14: Swafford made history as a true freshman, joining teammate Ben Reeves as the only players in UT Martin golf history to earn OVC Freshman of the Year accolades. He shot an average of 74.8 in the span of 31 rounds. He carded one top-10 finish. His best round was a 68 in both the Murray State Invitational (first round) on Sept. 30 and in the Skyhawk Fall Classic (first round) on Oct. 7. His best finishe was a seventh place performance at the Murray State Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
