COACH CARPENTER ON SISSINI: “John Michael was a highly decorated junior golfer with a stellar career. He had a good freshman year at UT Martin with a strong finish in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, where he finished fifth. His assets include a sneaky, long tee shot and an excellent short game. John Michael had to work thru several health issues last year; but is expected to rebound for the coming year. He is expected to be one of the top players for the 2012 year.
2011-2012 SEASON: Sissini competed in 31 rounds of golf during his sophomore campaign. Made the All-OVC Tournament team. He carried a stroke average of 75.19 for the season. He shot his lowest round for the season with a 71 and had a season-best tie for fifth.
2010-2011 SEASON: Sissini competed in 26 rounds of golf his freshman season. Made the all OVC Tournament team. He carried a stroke average of 74.650 for the season. Sissini shot his lowest round for the season at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate with a 67.
AS A PREP: Sissini was named the Tennessee PGA Vince Gill Junior Golf Tour’s Powertell Player of the Year in 2000. In 2001 he won the qualifying tournament for the U.S. Kids World Championship, where he later became the nine-year-old chipping champion of the world. He then went on to become the Mississippi State Champion in his age group at nine and 11. He finished fourth in his age bracket in the United States Junior Golf Association Tour Championship in 2005, which brought together the top 88 junior players in the country. Also in 2005 Sisinni won the United States Junior Golf Tour championship while also playing as the No.2 man on the Southern Baptist Educational Center’s high school varsity team, as an eighth grader. As a freshman in high school, in 2006, he finished fifth in the TSSAA Regional Golf Tournament then followed that up with a 19th place finish at the Tennessee State Golf Championships. The summer after his freshman year, he also carded a third-place finish at the University of Florida Junior Classic, hosted by the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour. As a sophomore in 2007, he improved to a runner-up showing in the TSSAA Regional Golf Tournament. He also improved his showing at the Tennessee State Golf Championships with a fifth-place performance. In the summer of 2007 he finished ninth at the U.S. Kids World Teen Championships before winning the regional qualifier tournament for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships where he finished among the top 40. As a junior at SBEC, he continued his strong play, recording a fourth-place showing at the TSSAA Regional Tournament. He also had his most successful summer on the junior circuits as well in 2008, highlighted by a number of quality finishes at some of the top national junior golf tournaments in the country.
He carded a 17th- place finish at the American Junior Golf Association’s Medicus Preseason Junior at Texarkana Golf Ranch, while also competing in the Bubba Conley National and Future Masters, which are both considered two of the top junior golf tournaments in the country. He also recorded three top-five finishes on the USJGT, including a second-place showing at the Tunica National Tournament. He capped the summer of 2008 with a third-place finish at the PARS International Tournament, hosted at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
PERSONAL: Sisinni is the son of John and Kathy Sisinni. He was born Dec. 29, 1991.
