2011-2012 SEASON: Granted a redshirt.
PREP: Smith graduated from Westview High School in Martin. He has two third-place finishes to his credit on the 2010 Tennessee Golf Association Junior Tour. He was third at Falcon Ridge and third at Ross Creek Landing. Smith also finished fifth at Paris Landing. He won at the Hermitage in the Taylor Made Adidas Championship Series. He also finished fourth in the series at Old Hickory Country Club and at Cherokee Valley (Olive Branch, Miss.). He was invited to play in the Toyota Tournament of Champions at the Golf Club of Tennessee. During the high school golf season, Smith averaged 37.25 on nine-hole matches. He won the regional golf tournament at Dyersburg Country Club and was second in the district tournament, also at Dyersburg. He capped off his prep career with a 13th-place finish in the TSSAA Class A-AA state golf tournament at Willowbrook in Manchester. He is a three-time all-district selection and has been named Westview’s golf MVP for the past three years.
PERSONAL: Smith, the son of Scott and Kathy Smith who run Persimmon Hills Golf Club in Sharon. He was born April 5, 1993.
