BEFORE UTM: Prepped at Arlington High School for head coach Chris Ring…Was part of Arlington’s historic run in 2011, as the Tigers were a state semifinalist, claiming District 14AAA Tournament, Region 7AAA, sectional and substate championships…AHS finished the season with a 33-6 record and No. 7 final all-class state ranking (No. 4 final AAA state rank)…Was a Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps All-Metro team and a Tennessee Baseball Report All-Two Way player after batting .408 with four homers and 41 RBI at the plate and going 6-2 with a 2.14 ERA to go along with 60 strikeouts on the mound…Also earned Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps all-metro Division-I accolades after the Tigers sported a 28-12 overall record and won a Region 7AAA championship and finished as runner-up at sectionals during his junior season…In the regional semifinals, Cox improved his season record to 6-1 with a dominant performance over Jackson North Side to keep his team's season rolling along.
