2012: Saw time in 17 games out of the bullpen…Accounted for 10 scoreless appearances, including four of his first six games, sporting a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 frames through March 18 at Saint Louis…Did not allow an extra-base hit through his first eight appearances (through the Vanderbilt game on April 3)…Tossed a career-high 2.1 shutout innings on March 10 at Indiana State…Fanned a pair of batters in 1.2 innings on May 9 against Belmont.
2011: Logged 12 innings over 11 appearances, including one start against Belmont on May 11…Best outing came in his collegiate debut against Indiana State on Feb. 26, when he fanned three and allowed just one hit in two innings of relief…Earned a victory against Big Ten member Purdue after one scoreless inning of relief on March 13…Posted a 1.50 ERA in his first five appearances of the season.
BEFORE UTM: Was a two-way player at Lexington High School under head coach Terry Odle, where he led the Tigers to a 31-16 record as a senior and berth in the Class AA state tournament in Smyrna...He was an all-tournament, all-district and West Tennessee All-Star selection...In the state tournament against Smith County, he took the mound and pitched a six-inning complete game, allowing just two hits on one unearned run while fanning five but came away the hard-luck loser in a 1-0 game...He helped the Tigers get to that point by leading LHS to a 17-2 win over Memphis Fairley in the sectional round...On offense, he was also one of the team leaders in home runs, swatting nine...Also was a standout quarterback and safety on the school's football team for head coaches Steve Lindsay and Bryant Hollingsworth.
