COACH CARPENTER ON SHELLNUT: “Tyler had an outstanding junior golf career with top finishes in high school and on the junior tour. He is extremely long off the tee and he is a pin-point iron player. He is a very hard practice player and works to improve his game every day. He made the year-end top five of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. Expectations are high for the 2012 year."

2011-2012 SEASON: Shellnut competed in 29 rounds with an average of 74.72 strokes per round. He shot a season-low 68 and finished with a season-best tie for fourth.

2010-2011 SEASON: Shellnut played competitively in 21 rounds during his freshman season. He carried a stroke average of 74.76 for the season. Shellnut’s lowest round was a 67 at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate where he finished tenth.

AS A PREP: Shellnut was a two-sport athlete at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, playing both basketball and golf. He earned all-state golf honors in 2009 and 2010. He earned all-regional honors on the basketball court in 2010 and he was selected to the all-region all-tournament team. In addition to his stellar prep career at BGA, Shellnut played in many junior golf events. 

PERSONAL: Shellnut is the son of Eric and Teresa Shellnut. He was born Feb. 16, 1991.
